What is a program manager?
A program manager is a professional who is responsible for managing and coordinating projects and initiatives across a company. These projects tend to be more ongoing initiatives, like customer and employee testing programs.
What does a program manager do?
Program managers are like project managers. But the ongoing nature of programs requires more of a tactical role rather than a strategic one. Program managers are responsible for the program in its entirety, from planning to execution.
Here are some common responsibilities for a program manager:
- Plan projects and programs, such as delta tests, dogfooding programs, continuous customer tests, and competitive testing
- Coordinate with product teams to deliver products to testers
- Triage and manage feedback collected from testers
- Present findings and data to stakeholders and executive teams
- Communicate with program participants and customers on a regular basis to drive engagement
